Reflections

Reflections

  • Accessibility as Opportunity: Rather than treating accessibility as a compliance checklist, I approached it as a creative challenge. Designing for dyslexia, anxiety, and distraction ultimately produced clearer, calmer decisions that benefited all users, not just the target groups.

  • Empathy Through Research: Each user group had nuanced, sometimes conflicting needs, which made assumptions dangerous. This project reinforced that meaningful accessibility design cannot exist without grounding every decision in real user research and testing.

  • Designing for Edge Cases: Real users rarely fit neatly into a single profile. True inclusivity means designing for the full spectrum of how needs can co-exist, including overlapping disabilities and high-stakes moments, not just the most common case.

Implications

Implications

  • Since the timeline of the project was short, the time to go in the field and do primary research had a scope of more than 1 month.

  • It involves reaching out ad interacting to focus groups, empathise with them an include them in every part of the iteration. Is the proposed solution actually working for them? does it need improvement in specific areas of the user journey?

  • All this would be possible if the constraint of time was not present. That would allow me to actually test the prototype and do user testing to these groups.

  • Then further, validating it and then putting out a well optimised solution.
